4 Ways to Avoid Bed Bugs When Traveling

Whether you’re traveling for business or just for fun, there’s one thing every traveler can agree on: no one wants to run into bed bugs. How can you make sure your hotel or rental home isn’t infested? Corder Pest Control has the answer. Our pest control in Lexington, SC has four ways for you to protect yourself when you’re on the road:

  1. Put belongings in the bathtub right away – When you first check into your accommodations, you might be tempted to drop your luggage on the bed or luggage rack. Don’t! If bed bugs are present, these are two of the most likely locations. Instead, put your suitcase in the bathtub or shower until you’ve inspected the room.
  2. Check the bed – Next, pull off the bed covers and sheets. You should even pull the bed away from the wall if you can. Then look under, over, and all around the bed and mattress. Use a flashlight if necessary. Keep an eye out for dark brown stains, bed bug skins, and strange odors.
  3. Inspect the luggage rack – Thoroughly inspect the luggage rack just as you did with the bed.
  4. If you see something, tell the staff – If you notice anything that could be a sign of bed bugs, tell the hotel staff immediately and request a new room. Take your belongings and out of the room as quickly as possible.

How do you know if you have bed bugs? If you have even the slightest suspicion, don’t wait to act. Call Corder Pest Control in Lexington, SC  for an inspection at your home or business in the South Carolina Midlands.
